About

  • The venue shares parking facilities.
  • Parking Lot 60 on the east side of the building is for permit holders only. Visitors will normally park in the Meadows Drive Garage.
  • The nearest University owned parking garage is the Meadows Drive Garage.

  • The Racquet and Recreation Fieldhouse is a mainly rectangular building with 2 floors.
    Level 1 is accessible to the public.
    Level 0 is for Athletes only, unless there is a competition, when the public will be given access to the bleachers to spectate.
  • There is 1 elevator and 4 stairways in the building.
  • The floors are named levels 0 and 1.
  • The building contains indoor tennis courts, squash courts, Athletes Performance Gym, Sports Medicine facilities, locker rooms and coaches offices, as well as public access to the lobby, and spectator areas during matches and events.
    There are also outdoor tennis courts, and access to the baseball/softball stadium.
    At the time of the survey (October 2024) a public access Fitness Center, with it's own locker rooms, was being installed.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slopes with varying degrees of gradient.
  • There is step free level access to all entrances.
  • There are 4 entrances into the building, 3 to level 1 and 1 to level 0.
  • At the time of the survey, none of the entrances were signed.
  • The main entrance is located on the west side of the building, opposite the Meadows Apartments. It has step-free level access and an automatic door, and gives access to the level 1 main lobby and public areas. The elevator and stairways to level 0 can also be accessed from here.
  • The 2 other entrances to level 1 also have step-free level access and automatic doors, and are located off the courtyard to the rear of the public Fitness Center.
    One gives access to the lobby, the other to the Squash Viewing Deck.
    The level 0 entrance has sloped access and an automatic door.
  • There is also an exit providing step-free access to the outdoor Tennis Courts. It is also used by baseball and softball players to access the stadium, via steps.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building.
  • The floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with a shiny finish in most of the corridors.
  • There are resting areas in the lobby and most of the circulation areas with a mixture of seating.
  • At the time of the survey (October 2024) there were no floor plans and little wayfinding signage in the building.
  • There is a designated safe space which can be used by people with dementia, autism or learning disabilities.
  • The designated safe space is located next to the restrooms in the lobby area on level 1.

Restrooms and Changing Facilities Available

  • There are 10+ restrooms with adaptations.
  • Restrooms with adaptations are located on level 1 in the lobby area, on the east side of the building on level 0 and level 1 and in the locker rooms on level 0.
  • The transfer space within the restrooms with adaptations varies between left hand transfer and right hand transfer.
  • The shower facilities which have adaptations are located in the locker rooms.
  • Step-free male and female restrooms are located on level 1 in the lobby area, on the east side of the building on level 0 and level 1 and in the locker rooms.
  • Standard changing facilities are located on level 0 on the west side, and on level 0 and 1 on the east side.
  • Standard shower facilities are located in the locker rooms on level 0.
  • Parent and baby changing facilities are located in the restrooms on level 0 and 1 on the east side.
  • The restrooms on level 0 and 1 on the east side also contain standard stalls with grab rails on both sides.
